Can anybody help in finding persons with the family name Potori/Potory/Potorij/Potoriy outside Hungary? The family seems to be of Trans-Carpathian origin. The village of Zahattya/Hátmeg (UA), the town of Uzhgorod/Ungvár (UA) and its surroundings are of major interest. Several family members sailed over the Americas to earn a living in the early 1900's. They usually showed up in Pittsburgh, PA. Apart from one probable exception, the name is always misspelled in the Ellis Island database. Selelyo and Malejko families of Zahattya may be relatives.

A surname POTOR and POTORI in the phone book.
3 POTORIs, 2 POTORYs passed thru Ellis Island.
The spelling Potoryi would suggests that the name is originating from a town by that name but none I find.
